The Manasquan Elks Lodge is hosting the Friends of Terri Lamo LaPoint Fundraiser.

Local Brielle mom, long-time Manasquan resident, Terri Lamo LaPoint is battling cancer for the second time.

This event is about raising money to offset medical expenses for this local family -- Terri, Jim, Jimmy, and Michael. You are invited to attend this special afternoon and evening for Terri. Tell a friend and bring a friend.

In 2001 Terri was diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei which she described as an uncommon tumor known for its production of mucin in the abdomen cavity. Everything that it surrounded had to be removed in the stomach area so she has endured operations including a full hysterectomy, removal of her appendix, restructuring of her bladder, and removal of a large mass in her stomach, as well as her spleen and gallbladder.

Treatment included a special chemo that only nineteen doctors were trained to perform. The odds were stacked against Terri but she beat them for a while.

Now the cancer is back, and Terri is not healing from her most recent surgery and has been bed ridden since Mother's Day.

Terri's husband, Jim, has been living with MS for nearly ten years and receives injections to slow down the effects. The cost for the meds can run up to $50,000 a year.

The LaPoints are raising two teen boys. Jimmy is 17 and Michael is 14.

Please mark your calendar for this Sunday, Aug. 23rd, from 4 pm - 8 pm, for this fundraiser at the Elks Lodge, 17 Stockton Lake Boulevard in Manasquan. $25 per person includes music and food. There will also be a gift auction.
