Funnel Cake Fries!

Funnel cakes at the Jersey Shore are so delicious...but this is the first time I saw them in 'french fry' form.They were totally awesome!

My son and I recently came across a place called The Burger Shop in Matawan (in the Starbucks Plaza on Main Street near Rt. 34) The menu included beef, turkey, and veggie burgers and lots of other things like a variety of hot dogs, wraps, and milkshakes.

But once my eyes landed on the menu item called 'funnel cake fries' I couldn't think of anything else. I simply had to order them.

I am so surprised that I have never come across this item before. It was absolutely a funnel cake in flavor, taste, texture, etc....but what a fun idea to be able to eat them in french fry form! You don't need to get all messy ripping apart the usual big glob of knots...instead it is quite a civilized, yet delicious, way to eat funnel cake...without getting the white powder all over you!

Love love love it!

And the atmosphere of this restaurant is great, too. Very 50s and fun, with live entertainment from time to time.(PS...it used to be called something else but is now privately owned and celebrating its grand reopening under the new name.)

Also, if you work in that area and want to try this place for your lunch break, you can call ahead and they'll have your order ready in ten minutes.
