Lauren Marcus is asking your help for her sister, a 4th - 6th grade special ed teacher. What's in it for you? A beautiful family portrait.

Meet Melissa and Scott Wyden Kivowitz, pictured here with their daughter Layla.

Melissa would be putting her life at risk to get pregnant again, after suffering two strokes in 2016. She has been told by her doctor that she can't carry another baby.

Melissa grew up in Freehold. When she first got out of college, she taught in Freehold, covering long-term maternity leaves. After 6 years of it, she was offered a job in Milltown, which is where she has been teaching since. She is a special education teacher for  4 - 6 graders.

She and Scott really want a sibling for their 2-and-a-half year old daughter Layla. But the price is high to grow a family through adoption, so this family has teamed up with the Freehold YMCA for a fundraiser.

Since Scott is a professional photographer, he is offering family portraits in the hopes of raising money to help with the adoption process.

The event is called "Love Makes a Family", a family portrait fundraiser where you offer a donation, with all proceeds going to help this family along their adoption journey.

The event will take place at the Freehold YMCA, 470 East Freehold Road, Freehold, on Feb. 3rd, 2018, from 10 am - 2 pm.
