We recently told you about a couple from Freehold that not only survived the mass shooting at the Route 91 Music Festival in Las Vegas but saved lives in the process. Today we got news of another local survivor.

27-year-old Kortney Spencer, a Wall High School grad, was badly hurt after getting shot in the shin during the massacre in Vegas. She may not have survived if it weren't for her boyfriend who covered her as bullets were flying through the air.

Kortney was born and raised in Red Bank, Marlboro, and Wall. She now lives in California and is a speech pathologist. Spencer told APP that she "hasn't processed how she feels." Instead, she wants to focus on becoming mobile again.

Once at the hospital, Kortney got an X-ray and was informed that she needed emergency surgery, but had to wait because of the number of injured people also needing care.

Spencer told the APP that doctors removed the bullet from her shin, and doctors had to suction out pieces of the shattered tibia bone. A rod was inserted into her leg and she remained in the hospital for 11 days. After being released, Kortney wasn't cleared to fly. So, her parents flew from Jersey to Vegas to get her back home.

Medical bills are piling up as Kortney is forced to be out of work and heal. With little to no money coming in, even keeping up with living expenses has become challenging. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Kortney's half-sister to try to help her while she's recovering. The page is called "Kortney's Road to Recovery." Let's get together and help one of our own out as she recovers mentally and physically.

Please visit the GoFundMe page that has been set up for Kortney and give what you can. From all of us here, we're glad you're ok and wish you a speedy recovery!

Kortney shared her dramatic account of the night's events with APP. Read the full story here.
