Governor Christie was in Belmar today as a huge step is taken to rebuild and restore part of our shore.

Today's groundbreaking is a great sign of recovering after Sandy for the people of Belmar, and for all of us here at the Jersey Shore.

Mayor Matt Doherty has said he hopes to have the project completed by Memorial Day. After a bit of controversy, the project is officially underway, and I can't wait to set foot on it once it's completed.

There's nothing like going for a run on Belmar's boardwalk, and I really believe I'll be able to do that again by the summer.

I'm also pretty impressed that Governor Christie was there for the groundbreaking. Say what you want about the guy, but the fact that he's still going to devastated shore towns, and showing up to things like this means something.
