No matter what holiday we celebrate here in the Garden State, you know something uniquely Jersey is going to happen. and so it did this Halloween.

It happened at Nancy Reamy's house. Some kids came to the door, looked at Chris, Nancy's husband and gave him a somewhat non-traditional greeting. No, it wasn't "Happy Halloween" and it wasn't "trick or treat" and it wasn't even "boo". It was much more Jersey than that.

This kid looked right at Chris and said, "You know what to do". Yep. You can't make it up. And here in New Jersey you never have to. Where else can a kid be so busy or in such a hurry that saying "Happy Halloween" is too much work for some free candy?

It's all part of the Jersey attitude. It's not that we don't hope you have a happy Halloween, it's just that we are too busy or get too bored to say it. It's just like good morning, hello or thank you. We mean all of them, we just don't always say them.

Why should a kid have to say Happy Halloween at every single house. You know why they're there. Just give them the candy, right? We get plenty of "you know what to dos" each day in the Garden State.

We get one every time we take an extra minute to hold a door for someone and they cruise by without even looking at you, let alone say thank you. Or how about the driver that doesn't even say thank you when you've stopped traffic for them to let them ahead of you.

So next time you're about to be nice to someone, remember you may not get that "thank you" you deserve. But do it anyway because it shouldn't surprise you, right?. It's New Jersey...you know what to do.

Lou, Liz and Nancy talk about the trick or treater story...
