Heading to Springsteen’s book signing? Here’s where to park

FREEHOLD — Parking should not be a problem if you are headed to Barnes and Noble in Freehold Township Tuesday for the Bruce Springsteen book signing.

The store, located on the northbound side of Route 9 next to Freehold Raceway, has a small parking lot. Signs will be posted directing fans to park at the Raceway, which is in Freehold Borough. Police will be directing people across Route 33.

"We got a bunch of extra guys on, they've got their own security at Barnes and Noble so everything's pretty much handled," Freehold Township Police spokesman Jim Lasky said, adding that both borough and township police will working the event.

Lasky said around 2,000 people are expected to show up for the signing of Springsteen's autobiography "Born to Run."

No roads are closed and Lasky said that compared to big events at the raceway, they're not expecting any major traffic problems as a result of the signing.

"Don't park at the Freehold Raceway Mall or those big box stores across the street," New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams said, as there is no crosswalk or safe place to park.

The store itself will be open at 7 a.m. only to ticket-holders with a valid form of identification and will not reopen until after 4 p.m.

Williams said the ride into Freehold should be an easy one in the morning.

"Route 9 will get you without any problem coming off the Parkway," Williams said. "And from 195, remember you can get off at the Six Flags exit and take Route 537 right into Freehold. Route 33's a pretty straight shot into Freehold as well."
