There's no doubt that if you're stuck in the house riding out the storm, you may have the urge to reach for the junk food. If you don't want to ruin your New Year's resolution because of the storm, these suggestions may help.

According to eatingwell.com, here are some of the healthiest winter foods around that make for good snacks during the storm.

Citrus Fruits. This is their time of year, and we all know they have a ton of vitamin C, but some can also help boost good cholesterol and lowering bad cholesterol.

Potatoes. Yes, potatoes. I was surprised by this one but was reminded that they are an excellent Vitamin C and B6 source. They're also a good fiber source and if you have purple potatoes, they have antioxidants.

Pomegranates. They're a great source of antioxidants and have been reported to help fight bad cholesterol and are just really heart healthy overall.

So, when you stop at what's sure to be a pretty packed supermarket on the way home today, you might want to add one or all of these to your list. As much as I looked, there was no chocolate on the list, but feel free to pick some up as well.

And if you happen to already be passing a liquor store...I'll just leave that up to you.
