Help Feeding Your Pets is Available at the Pet Pantry in Eatontown

If you know someone who is struggling to care for their pets, tell them about the Monmouth County SPCA's new Pet Pantry!

The Monmouth County SPCA (MCSPCA) hosted its official grand opening/ribbon cutting of their new Pet Pantry building this past Friday.

The Pet Pantry was established during Superstorm Sandy, when it became clear that people were being put in the position of having to choose between paying for their own necessities and those of their beloved pets.

Through generous donations and an outpouring of support from the community, the Pet Pantry started providing low-cost or free supplies to pet owners, resulting in less pets being surrendered to local shelters.

For the last 3 years, the Pet Pantry was housed within the Thrift Store, but, due to the overwhelming need, an official Pet Pantry building has gone up on the grounds of the Eatontown location of the MCSPCA.

The pantry currently services over 1,100 families, and, with the opening of the new building, they will be able to serve more.

The Pet Pantry accepts donations of dry dog food, wet dog and cat food, dry cat food, cat litter, and other supplies like leashes and cat toys. Funds raised through the Pet Pantry go towards purchasing food to stock the shelves and towards spay and neutering for pets.

To qualify for the MCSPCA Pet Pantry, you must have proof of spay/neuter of your pet (or be willing to spay/neuter), show proof of income, and provide a valid photo ID.

The Pet Pantry is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 am - 4 pm, and on Wednesdays from 9 am - 1:45 pm.
