Honoring a Local Man Who Lost His Life in 9-11
Kathy Cunningham of Spring Lake will never forget her beloved brother. And she has found a great way to keep his memory alive.
You are invited to a great event for a wonderful cause in memory of one of our area’s victims of 9-11. The Tunnel To Towers’ TeamShamrock was created by Kathy to honor the memory of her brother Don Robertson Jr. who was killed on 9/11. Donnie lived in Rumson, and his love of Ireland and his shamrock tattoo inspired the team name.
Kathy and her friends are a motivated group of patriotic fundraisers who vow to NEVER FORGET! Every year they participate in the Tunnel To Towers Run/Walk in NYC. And they invite you to join Team Shamrock Thursday, June 26th, at their kickoff fundraiser at Bar A from 6 pm – 10 pm. $20 cover, $2 drinks, FREE BBQ, gift auction, and the Pat Roddy Band with the Jukes horns!
Team Shamrock will also begin selling their raffle tickets that evening, through the summer, up until the last Bar A Fundraiser. Prizes include a Pontiac Firebird, fur coat, and a diamond necklace!
The Tunnel to Towers Walk/Run traces the steps of hero and firefighter Stephen Siller who ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel in full firefighter gear to get to the World Trade Center. His family created the Tunnel To Towers run/walk in his memory and there are around 30,000 participants every year.
Throughout the summer there are also upcoming fundraisers at OMG Frozen Yogurt on Rt. 35 in Wall Township July 31st, Houlihans in Brick on August 19th, Applebee’s in Wall on Sept. 7th, and again at Bar A on Sept. 25th , and you are invited to all of those events! A portion of all proceeds go to TeamShamrock/Tunnel To Towers.
So where does the money go? That’s the good part! The money that TeamShamrock raises goes to build Smart Homes for our brave men and women who have been catastrophically injured in war. TeamShamrock’s motto is to DO GOOD and to NEVER FORGET!
This year’s Tunnel To Tower Walk/Run is Sunday, September 28th, and if you can’t be there, you can see coverage on CBS Channel 2.
