This is Tiga. He is visiting Monmouth and Ocean Counties from Haiti. And each time he comes here it is a reminder to me of how much my boys have..that other kids don't.

Hope Changes Everything is a non-profit organization giving children a chance to experience hope. Many children are living in poverty and opportunities to overcome their living conditions are scarce.

My friend Tiga, from Haiti, tirelessly works in his country (and by visiting ours) to help  children in need have a shot an an education. Many kids in Haiti don't go to school because they can't afford tuition or don't have access to a school without walking six or more hours to get there and back. Some of these children are needed at home to care for their siblings, and, even if they wanted to go to school, couldn't afford a uniform or supplies. Some of these children have to work at a young age to assist with their family's income.

Do you take your life for granted? We have water. We have cars to get around. We buy a cup of coffee or get our nails done without blinking. We have air conditioning in this heat. Our children are fully dressed with plenty of variety in their clothing and shoes. We can easily get them a free public education. We have all the food we want -- and then some.

What a lesson it would be if we could all go to a place like Haiti with our kids and show them how real life looks in a country that is poor and STILL recovering from an earthquake all these years later.

Tiga does so much in the place that he calls home, including helping his neighbors gather clean water, helping raise money for constructing school buildings, desks, and benches in places where more kids need access to an education because the closest school is hours away, and lifting the spirit of hope among so many who would otherwise have none.

So here's your chance to  sponsor a child and develop an ongoing relationship with that child throughout their educational years.

For $200, you will provide a year's worth of education, uniform, school supplies and nutritious meal to a child..

For $100 a year, you can provide after-school tutoring to enhance a child's learning and give them the extra help they need.

For just $5, you can give a meal and a gift to a child who would otherwise not have one for 'Children's Day' in January. It's one day each year filled with worship, good food, and gifts for children.

You can also make a donation in any amount to be used as needed in the most necessary areas. Hope Changes Everything partners with local schools, church leaders, and other organizations to provide the best opportunities available to children living in poverty.

Missionary Tiga (Silain) Wildophe is someone I know...so I can tell you first hand that he, along with his wife Farah, will send you a profile and picture of the child you sponsor and will report the progress of your child (like school grades and stories) via email updates. They act as liaisons for sponsors and their sponsored children.

If you'd like, you can even make a donation of Missionary Support for Tiga and Farah to help them as they advocate for the children of Haiti. (They have their own little baby at home, too.)

Private donors fund Hope Changes Everything's operating costs, so 100% of your donations go straight to the children. Donations are tax deductible.
