We're actually in decent shape (no pun intended), coming in at #16, where #1 (Hawaii) has the lowest obesity rate and #50 (Mississippi) has the highest.

CBSNews released a handy map to show where each state placed, showing that a good portion of the unhealthiest states are in the South.

CBSNews writes, "The [report] is based on 2.2 million surveys, asking respondents to self-report their height and weight, which is used to calculate Body Mass Index (BMI), as well as questions about their well-being across five categories, including their sense of purpose, social relationships, financial security, community, and physical health. The report showed a strong link between obesity and lower overall well-being."

The Top 5 states (lowest obesity risk):

1. Hawaii
2. Colorado
3. Montana
4. California
5. Massachusetts

The Bottom 5 states (highest obesity risk):
50. Mississippi
49. West Virginia
48. Louisiana
47. Arkansas
46. Oklahoma
