I have driven passed this place thousands of times. It always looked tiny, closed, and impossible to find a parking place near, since it's at the heart of an intersection that is extremely busy during the summer.

So one day recently, when I saw the 'open' sign in the window and the tourists had not yet arrived, I finally decided I HAD to see what was behind those doors. Besides, I was in need of a birthday gift for a party I was headed to, and hoped to get lucky.

I was SHOCKED when I got inside. Why? Because, when driving by what appeared to be a little, ramshackle shop with seashells in the window, at the corner of Arnold Avenue and Ocean Avenue in Point Pleasant Beach (across from the boardwalk) it didn't strike me as the kind of place that would be a HUGE, REALLY COOL gift shop on the inside! Yet that's what I walked into : )

The gifts inside are just what you'd want to get someone for a birthday or special occasion...all beach-themed and a fantastic assortment, and, if you're not already parked in the area for a day at the beach, you can tell the parking attendant in the gift shop lot that you are there to shop in the store and they will let you pull in to do so! The owner is so friendly and helpful!

The name of the shop is The Sand House, seashells and nautical treasures, established in 1977. AND --my favorite part-- they will put your gift in an adorable gift bag, free of charge! So you can head straight to the birthday person with your gift already wrapped : )

Gifts include blankets, pillows, jewelry, kitchen items, or a ton of other gifts, and they're open ALL YEAR!

Have you been here?
