If you're like me, you woke up to a news feed full of messages and comments from a Facebook event called "Light Up The Sky." Here's what's going on and how to get rid of them.

While the posts of Facebook are a bit much, the idea behind "Light Up The Sky" is good one. This is from their event page.

9pm EST **THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC GATHERING** Let's light up the sky for the ones we've lost due to addiction, and for those who may still be struggling or have been lucky enough overcome the struggle of addiction. Drugs have a hold on you that no one can explain, and it can happen to anyone! We are losing way to many mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, etc. because of this epidemic. So please turn your porch light on or light some candles outside and say a little prayer for those we've lost or those who are still struggling. Please invite your friends to join in, let's light up the whole sky! We will do this every month on the 25th!!

Speaking personally, addiction is a disease. It tears people and families apart. So before you get bent out of shape that your entire news feed is getting flooded, know that all that is trying to be accomplished is for people to be kinder, more understanding and aware of fellow human beings affected by addiction.

That being said, once you read about the event and decide to support it or not, it's a lot to handle on your feed.

Getting rid of these is really simple. Click on the arrow in the upper right corner of any related post on your feed and choose "Hide all from Light up the Sky." Done.

What is horrible, is comments like the one above.

Delete me. I no like addicts and fags and mexicans. I hope the needle finds you all again. Dopers deserve to die.

No one deserves to die.
