How To Rock Red Hair
What's in fashion this season? Red hair! Here are some great tips if you're thinking of going red.
Experts say you CAN go red...just follow this advice:
-- The darker your skin tone, the darker the red hair color should be. If you're dark or olive-skinned, stick to copper and ginger shades. Reds that look good on almost anyone: auburns and chestnuts.
-- Red hair color fades the fastest. Whether you get it done at a salon or do it yourself, go into it knowing you'll have to maintain the color. (For do-it-yourselfers, L'Oreal and Clairol's home dye kits get high marks for high quality and affordable pricing.)
-- I you decide to use henna because it's natural, it will add lots of shine to your hair. But there's also a downside. If you like to change your hair color, henna is like a 'coat of armor' on your hair. Once it's there...it's hard to get out.
-- You can try old-school and wash your red hair with red food products like cherry juice, pomegranate juice...even beets...to maintain color. But be careful. If it will stain your kitchen cutting board, there's a good chance it might also stain your shower and tub! Test it out first.
