A friend of mine had an extra ticket to see Bruce tonight: The cost? $112. I like Bruce and all, but I can't fathom spending 112 bucks to see him play.

Is there anyone worth that kind of money? Well, yeah.

A few years ago I paid $200+ to see Paul McCartney at Citifield in NYC. The seats were nowhere near the stage, but it was Paul freakin McCartney. The man was a BEATLE. And to this day, it's one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

I've spent a good amount of money for shows over the years...artists like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith are not cheap to see. As I get older (and as I've experienced the perk of the occasional free concert ticket courtesy of this lovely job!) I'm much less willing to spend a lot of money on a concert.

I'm finding I enjoy smaller shows and venues more. You know, the ones where the artist you are seeing is actually human-sized, not ant-like. Ones where I don't have to walk 2 miles through the parking lot to the entrance just to sit in the nosebleeds. Ones where 20 bucks can get you up close and personal with a person whose eyes can look back at yours.

But then there's Sir Paul. For him? I'd pay another $200+.

(Full disclosure: my friend has been awesome enough to tell me I don't have to pay for tonight's ticket...you can expect a review tomorrow!)
