It's no shock that it's expensive to drive in New Jersey, but how do we compare to other states in the U.S.?

24/7 Wall St came up with rankings for every state when it comes to how expensive it is to drive there, and it was reported at yahoo.com. New Jersey didn't come in at #1, and we didn't even make the top 10. Surprised?

The Garden State actually ranked #14...not exactly something to be proud of, but probably lower than you might have guessed. We all know the price of car insurance and maintenance, so what kept New Jersey from ranking higher?

The answer...our gas prices. We have the 11th lowest in the nation, which certainly helped dropped our overall ranking. By the way, the most expensive state to drive in is Michigan, and the cheapest is Hawaii. New York ranked #35.
