Some dads sing lullabies to their kids — but Jay-Z is not just any dad. And while some celebrity couples confirm the birth of children with boring old publicist statements, Hova is going one better there too, releasing a song in which he not only cops to the birth of daughter Blue Ivy, but records the baby girl’s first cries.

Over the weekend, the rapper and his superstar wife Beyonce had their first child Blue Ivy, but we only knew this because friends and family sent congratulations using sites like Twitter. The couple themselves, “repeatedly declined requests for comment,” according to the AP.

Seems Jay-Z was just waiting to do things his own way. And in the unexpectedly personal ‘Glory,’ he raps about the joys of new fatherhood and the pain of losing his own dad, and says Beyonce previously suffered a miscarriage before little Blue was conceived in Paris last year:

False alarms and false starts

All made better by the sound of your heart

All the pain of the last time

I prayed so hard it was the last time

Your mama said you danced for her

Did you wiggle your hands for her?

Glory, Glory, Glory

At the end of the track you even hear little Blue Ivy belting out the first wails through her genetically golden pipes. We expect it’s the first of many hot tracks to come. (Of course, before she spits hot rhymes, she’ll actually be spitting up.)
