Jersey Freeze ice cream stand and restaurant has been a mainstay Manalapan Avenue in Freehold for over 60 years. However, if a new application goes through it could be the end of Jersey Freeze as we know it.

Other chains have tried to take over the land Jersey Freeze sits on, such as Olive Garden and Ruby Tuesday. Both never happened.

Houlihan's has filed an application to build on the Freehold Borough land. In the application, it calls for the demolition of Jersey Freeze and the construction of nearly 8,000 square foot Houlihan's restaurant and a 4,000 square foot bank.

Speaking to a local newspaper, Jersey Freeze owner Bruce Blackmore said

There are preliminary discussions to put a Houlihan’s on the back of the property of Jersey Freeze. We are hoping to have additional information in the coming weeks. Jersey Freeze is looking forward to its 61st summer of great ice cream.
