I received an email over the weekend chronicling the good deeds of a Jersey Shore man and his organization.

His name is Kevin Garrison, and he is the administrator for Blessing Bag Brigade. They are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and according to their website, their mission is to "help the homeless find a little comfort."

With the help of special needs Alpha School in Jackson, a class in the Rumson school district and many other volunteers, they put together necessity bags, or "blessing bags" full of trial size items like toothpaste and toothbrushes, soap, body wash, lotion, lip balm, disposable razors, band-aids, socks, water, snacks and other personal hygiene items.

These bags are handed out to the homeless in Monmouth and Ocean counties and New York City at least 5-days-a-week.

We may not be able to cure homelessness, but we definitely show them we care. Our compassion proves to them, that people do want to help. Sometimes all they need is a little hope, and someone to say they care.

Want to help? They've set up an Amazon wish list with the specific items they fill the Blessing Bags with.

One would think that would be enough giving back for one man, right? Wrong.

Recently, Kevin was at Monmouth Middle School and was tipped off by a teacher that there was a broken window in need of repair at one of their student's house. When Kevin arrived at the Middletown home, he realized that there was more than a window that needed fixing. There were many windows. Some had been covered in plastic for quite some time. Appliances weren't working - the place was in bad shape. Living inside, a Grandmother, her five grandkids, and one great-grandchild.

Even though Kevin and his crew were already busy with their mission of helping the homeless, he and the organization went to work fixing this house.

The person who emailed me summed up Kevin Garrison perfectly.

One has to believe there is good in the world and Kevin Garrison IS THE GOOD!!
