The events from this weekend at the Jersey Shore are harsh reminders that each of us must be observant, vigilant and ready to alert authorities if anything seems out of the ordinary.

We want to make sure you have all the necessary information if you do need to report something to authorities. The New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness has a 24 hour tip line that you can make an anonymous report. The number is 1-866-4-SAFE-NJ or you can dial 211.

That number is always staffed by trained law enforcement personnel. You can also report any suspicious activity by emailing information to tips@njohsp.gov.

This past weekend has certainly shaken up all of us in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, and is a real reminder that we must all remain vigilant and alert.
