If you used Ticketmaster to make a ticket purchase at any point between October 1999 and February 2013, you may find a welcome surprise thanks to a lawsuit settlement: free tickets!

The class action lawsuit had to do with the many fees Ticketmaster charges during the ticket purchase process. The free tickets and discounts, in the form of vouchers, are supposed to work as a refund of sorts.

To see if you have any vouchers waiting for you, head to ticketmaster.com, and log in to your account. (If you've ever bought tickets, you should have an account.)

When you click 'My account,' you should see several options listed, including  'Active Vouchers.' Click that, and you may find several ticket vouchers and discount codes waiting for you!

Now, before you get too excited, when I first checked my account on Saturday afternoon, I had about 10 vouchers, each good for two free general admission tickets for select shows, along with 10 codes for $2.50 off any ticket purchase.

The thing about the free tickets is, they are only allowing you to use the vouchers for tickets to select shows, and they have yet to announce what those shows will be, so don't go thinking you'll be able to score tickets to see Taylor Swift or Hamilton on Broadway or the World Series or something. Also, they are on a first-come, first-served basis, so they might be near impossible to redeem.

Another issue seems to be that since this news broke, and everyone realized they might have freebies waiting for them, the site is suddenly 'experiencing technical difficulties,' and not letting customers access their vouchers. Convenient.

All in all, this seems like it could be awesome...but I'm not too hopeful I'll actually be getting anything out of it. For me, it's a 'hope for the best, expect the worst' situation, but time will tell!
