Now that winter 2017 is officially here, I thought it would be a good time to get our requests in, so here's our open letter to winter 2017.

Dear Winter,

First, we'd like to welcome you to the Jersey Shore. We hope you enjoy your stay, but there are some suggestions we'd like to make to make the next few months more pleasant for all of us. If you plan on staying here, please be aware of our guest guidelines.

Snow timing. Let's try to keep any significant snow to the following days and times: overnight Fridays and Saturdays.

Snow amount. Let's keep it to 1-3 inches maximum and only when it's absolutely necessary.

Uninvited guests. We love everyone who visits the Jersey Shore...well almost everyone. Winter 2016 brought a guest named polar vortex. That didn't work well for anyone.

Driver education. If you plan on bringing slippery road conditions, please bring some form of driver education. You know, pamphlets, videos...whatever you have. Have you seen some of these people drive in the winter?

Smooth departure. We expect a smooth timely departure at the end of your stay. No lingering, loitering or attempting to return after you've already left.

If all these rules are followed you will truly enjoy your stay and we will truly enjoy having you. Thanks for your careful attention on this matter.
