Most of us are still rattled from the bombing in Seaside Park Saturday morning. Personally, I was struggling with how to do a "normal" show today. So, I just said what was on my mind.

To start, I would be remiss if I didn't thank every single first responder, police, fire, and EMT, the FBI and every single person who was willing to step up and help in any way needed.

Simply put, we are protected by the best and bravest.

I have three takeaways from Saturday morning's explosion in Seaside Park. First, if it weren't for the massive support of our military, someone most likely would have been hurt, or even killed.

It really says something that because so many people showed up at the Semper 5k that it put the event behind schedule.

So, to every service member, friend, family member and the person who decided to participate in the 5k, thank you. You most likely protected innocent people from injury or worse.

The second takeaway was the admiration I have for the men and women keeping us safe. After incidents in Seaside Park and New York, it took authorities on a local and national level 48 hours to apprehend this monster. Two days! That is just amazing.

Finally, we can't let these horrible occurrences stop us from doing what we do. I completely understand if you are on edge, or even afraid. This hit very close to home. However, just like the Semper 5k to benefit our military and their families, there are many events coming up at the Shore, and we need to be there.

I'll be emceeing Walk Now for Autism Speaks Saturday morning on the Great Lawn in Long Branch. If you were planning to come and are now on the fence, please come. When you don't, the terrorist accomplish their goals. If you weren't planning on attending, please come. Now more than ever we need to come together as a community and continue to raise money and awareness for those who need it most.

I know "Jersey Strong" gets thrown around a lot. But after reflecting over the weekend, we really are, and I'm proud to live here with you.
