The base, home to Army, Navy, and Air Force operations, is hosting the 2014 Joint Base Open House and Air Show on May 10 and 11.

It's totally free and will feature a performance by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Army Golden Knights, GEICO Skytypers, and other air stunt performers.

There will also be lots of cool military aircraft on display, along with exhibitors.

It's definitely something cool that the kids (and kids-at-heart) would like, and again...it's totally free!

Gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., with performances beginning at 10 a.m.

They ask you to arrive early to allow plenty of time for parking and security processing. Keep in mind that the event is on a military base, so there are certain things you can and cannot bring. For the full list, click HERE.

JB MDL is calling this event a 'thank you to the tri-state region that supports the joint base throughout the year.'

It's a cool way to check out something you wouldn't otherwise have access to, and I have seen military air shows in the past, and they are AWESOME.

What's something you would love to have 'behind the scenes' access to? Tell us in the comment section below!
