According to a press release, it will be "a community hub where families and individuals in need can access food, job training and other resources that aim to end the cyclical cause of hunger in Ocean County."

The B.E.A.T. Center will be located at 1769 Hooper Ave. in the Silverton section of Toms River, and will offer a food pantry and place to get meals for children and seniors in need. It will also house the second JBJ Soul Foundation Soul Kitchen.

The Soul Kitchen is a great restaurant where you can get a hot, (AMAZING) 3-course-meal and pay for it what you can afford (whether that's the $10 suggested donation per person, more, or less) or volunteer your time -- one hour of work earns a free meal for you and up to 4 family members. The first location in Red Bank is incredibly popular, and it's great to see one open in Ocean County.

Additionally, The B.E.A.T. Center will serve as a permanent home for the People's Pantry, and a satellite location for the FoodBank.

Aside from getting food, people can also stop in to The B.E.A.T. Center to get help accessing other types of assistance, from food stamps to healthcare to tax prep services. All of this in one place will make it a truly great resource for Ocean County residents.

The B.E.A.T. Center is expected to open later this year. For more information, including how you can volunteer or make a donation, visit www.thebeatcenter.org.
