The Cook-Off is a friendly competition for first responders that also helps the community!

It's happening on Saturday, October 22nd from 12-2 p.m. at The B.E.A.T. Center on Hooper Avenue in Toms River, and will be open to the public. The cost of admission is a $10 donation at the door, with no tickets available in advance. Attendees will be able to sample all of the different chilis and vote for their favorite!

A portion of the proceeds will go to Hope Sheds Light, a Toms River-based organization that raises awareness and offers resources and education for families dealing with addiction.

Local first responders (Police, Fire, and EMS) who would like to sign up as 'chili chefs' can email info@jbjsoulkitchen.org to request an entry form. JBJ Soul Kitchen will provide all the items needed for the day, just be ready to bring your best chili, and lots of friends to vote for you!

The winning chef will also receive a monetary prize based on how many tickets are sold for the Cook-Off, so the larger the crowd, the bigger the prize!

Sounds delicious!
