Just Dough It in Pt. Pleasant Hosting Open Mic Nights

Stop by either to perform or just to find out about a great new non-profit that is providing performing arts scholarships for kids and auditioning those who are already performers to be part of a troupe that plays at community events.

The Zzak G. Applaud Our Kids Foundation is holding Open Mic Nights on Thursdays: July 19th, Aug. 2nd, 16th, and 30th at the new Just Dough It, 66 Arnold Avenue in Point Pleasant, from 7 pm - 9 pm.

Bring your instruments, your voice, your poetry, a monologue, or just yourself! Sign-ups to perform begin at 6:30 pm.  All ages are welcome to perform.

The Zzak G. Applaud Our Kids Foundation is building awareness for their community non-profit that raises money to provide performing arts scholarships to children ages 7 - 18 in singing, dancing, acting and instrumental music.

Scholarships are given to children for the entire school year. If the family meets certain financial criteria, the child is connected with a local performing arts studio partner close to their home.

Performing arts education contributes to the proactive development of children on many different levels. It provides kids with the opportunity to find their own voice, increases self-esteem, gives them a sense of belonging, and provides an outlet for them to openly express themselves.

ALSO, the Zzak G. Applaud Our Kids Foundation will be holding auditions for singers, dancers, actors and those who play a musical instrument to join their Performance Troupe. The Troupe performs at community and corporate events.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, July 24th, beginning at 6 pm at Downtown Dance Academy, 25 W. Water St., Toms River.
