An Arctic blast has gripped a majority of the nation this week and today the Jersey Shore is feeling it's frigid effects. So just how cold was it first thing this morning in your town?

This morning, we took a look at readings  from across Monmouth & Ocean Counties at 6:00am and the numbers were literally bone chilling. Here are some of the temperatures/wind chills we found at weather.com.

Freehold 3/-14

Belmar 5/-15

Point Pleasant 5/-13

Manasquan 5/-14

Brick 5/-13

Red Bank 4/-15

The good news is we are expecting some warming. The bad news is it's not coming soon enough. We will have temperatures over the freezing mark, according to our Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow, but not until Saturday.

Today, we stay in the teens with wind chills around 0 all day and then tonight's it's single digit temps and the wind chill hovering around zero. Tomorrow will feature less wind ant the daytime temperatures will soar to the low 20's.

And we welcome the weekend with almost the same joy we experience on a summer weekend, with daytime temps both days over 40 degrees. Maybe we can cancel the dripping faucets at that point.

This weather is a perfect reminder to download the free 94.3 The Point App if you haven't already to stay up to date on Jersey Shore weather and much more.
