Bean will be filling the space that previously was occupied by Borders.

There are many benefits to the new store aside fromthe 25,000-square-foot, two-level store itself. L.L. Bean will employ about 100 workers.

The company said it decided to open a store in Freehold because of its large number of catalog and web customers in the area.

The store will feature casual apparel and footwear, outdoor gear and apparel, including hiking, fly-fishing, kayaking and camping products. The store will include L.L. Bean’s Outdoor Discovery Schools, which offer clinics and demonstrations about outdoor activities.
