Recently out of sheer boredom and too much quiet time to think, this childhood game came to mind. When's the last time you played it?

L My Name is Lizzie

And My Friend's Name is Liza

We come from Louisiana

And we sell Licorice.

As a kid growing up in NYC, we usually played outside 'on the block' with this 'song' that went along with either bouncing a little pink ball or a double-dutch jump rope.

We would chant this little ditty to each letter of the alphabet.

Fun times!

B my name is Benji

And my friend's name is Betty

We come from Brooklyn

And we sell Barbies!

Did you grow up doing this? Do your kids know it?

My son says it's 'girlie', but I got him to play it with me anyway : )

Oh, the simple things. At least it got my mind off my worries!
