The man, being called an "Angel From Heaven,"  is credited with grabbing a jack out of his car and trying to lift the 2012 Honda Accord that struck a 2-year-old and 8-year-old as they crossed Cushman Street at Route 9 on Sunday afternoon.

After police and rescue arrived, the man simply walked away from the scene. “Come out come out wherever you are, because we want to honor you”, Lakewood Mayor Akerman told TheLakewoodScoop.com.

Aron Weichbrod, a paramedic who moved to Lakewood 6 months ago has come forward as the second man who helped calm the children while the unidentified man worked the jack according to TheLakewoodScoop.com

“Once they got the jack up, the kid who was on top of the older one started breathing” Weichbrod told Akerman and Lakewood Committeeman Miller.

Weichbrod will be honored during the next Township Committee meeting, along with Lakewood First Aid, EMS and Hatzolah members for their involvement in the incident.

The children are still in serious but stable condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune according to TheLakewoodScoop.com.
