Nick DeRose drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 6th inning to score Bill Fleury with the winning run as the Toms River Little League All-Stars edged Newark, Delaware 11-10 to finish pool play with a 4-0 record at the Mid Atlantic Regional in Bristol, Connecticut.

According to information at gamechanger.com, Toms River, who led 9-4 at one point, trailed 10-9 going into their final at-bat and tied the game on Jonathan Giordano’s two-out double before a pair of walks led to the game winning run crossing the plate.

Christian Wood continued to swing a hot bat and belted a two-run homer for TR while Jason Kapp added two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.  DeRose and Colin Baker also knocked in two runs while Connor Cino had two hits as part of a 12-hit attack.  Wood who followed Kapp and Joe Schifilliti to the mound and collected the win despite allowing two runs in just one inning.

The Toms River team is now off until Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. when they will face Colonie, New York in the second semifinal with the game to be televised live on ESPN.
