A heavily traveled roadway in Holmdel will be shutdown for approximately two months for needed bridge repairs.

Starting Friday, August 5th, Laurel Avenue will be closed at the New Jersey Transit bridge between Avon Place and Steven Ct. The damaged NJT bridge over the roadway will be repaired during that time.

The closure is just west of the Holmdel Commons shopping center near the intersection of Rt. 35.

Holmdel Police note that the closure will apply to all traffic, including emergency vehicles. This section of roadway is often used by those wishing to access Rt. 35 from Parkway exit 114 (Red Hill Rd.), and vice versa.

Detours will be in place, with Kings Highway, Centerville Rd., or Bethany Rd. in Hazlet the best nearby alternates.

The duration of the project is subject to weather and other issues, but is expected to be completed by early October.

Allow extra travel time when driving through this area, and if possible, avoid it completely during peak travel times.
