Laurie’s Sangria – Cocktail of the Week
Nothing says summertime to me like a nice cold glass of sangria…this is my personal recipe, and like most things I make, is a recipe that can be played around with to suit your taste!
- 1 bottle pinot noir
- 1.5 oz. triple sec
- 1.5 oz. blackberry brandy
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 limes, sliced
- 2 lemons, sliced
- 1 orange, sliced
- club soda or sprite (optional)
Add the fruit to the bottom of the pitcher, next add the sugar, triple sec, and brandy, and give a quick stir. Pour in the entire bottle of wine, and stir well until the sugar is well dissolved.
I taste it at this point and see what it needs. Sometimes I add a little more blackberry brandy or sugar if I think it needs it.
To serve, add a few frozen strawberries and frozen mango chunks to a glass, and fill with sangria. Some people like it a little bubbly or sweeter, so add a splash of club soda or sprite if you feel so inclined.
Switch it up:
Use white wine instead of red. (I’d go with a riesling or pinot grigio)
Add different fruit! Throw in some fresh sliced peaches, pineapple, blueberries, grapes, bananas, or cherries.
Use a different flavored brandy.
