Last week, I took my daughter to see one of the final performances of Les Miserables on Broadway.

On Sunday, Sept. 4, the curtain dropped forever for the Cameron Mackintosh revival at the Imperial Theatre on 45th Street after playing over 1,024 performances since it opened on March 2014.

With the music of Les Mis still echoing in my head and my heart still full of love, I came across this video from 2015, where the faculty of the West Des Moine Community School district interrupted their school superintendent with a brilliant parody of the showstopper, "One Day More," which closes the first act and sets the stage for the tragic (or miraculous-depending on how you look at it) events yet to unfold--much like the first day of school!

With that in mind, enjoy this Les Mis parody as the teachers ponder what God in heaven has in store: "One More Dawn..One More Day...One Day More" with a march to the barricades of freedom that is the educational year!

Good luck to all the teacher, parents, and students and cheers to a new school year!
