Liz decided after the Mets had played over 150 games this year that they had played well enough and had already won enough games for her to declare herself a fan.

This, of course, did not sit well with many Mets fans who have suffered through many lean years and feel they've earned their place as a fan. When I first heard the declaration, I felt exactly that way.

But there are some undeniable facts that must be considered. In the 15 years since the last Mets World Series appearance, I have been a fan for every single game, and not one world championship. That's 2430 regular season games.

Liz, on the other hand, had been a fan for exactly 30 hours and precisely one game and the Mets are National League East Champions. So what am I doing wrong? Liz, I don't care if you jumped on the bandwagon as long as they continue to win, but if they start losing, I'm sorry to say, you're out!
