Toms River's Alyssa Lego is 11 years old (soon to be 12), and is an ambassador for Special Olympics New Jersey is dedicating her time this summer to fundraising for that great cause.

Alyssa wants to raise $3000 and  has some great and creative ways you can help her do that. She joined us on the morning show to talk about some upcoming events.  Alyssa is planning her 12th birthday at her home and is hoping guests can make donations to SONJ in lieu of gifts.

She is also getting help from Cherry’s Ice Cream Shoppe in Toms River. It's the second year in a row Alyssa is having an ice cream event there. Cherry’s will donate a portion of the sales to SONJ plus raise money by giving you a chance to win an old fashioned bubble gum machine and an ice cream cake. The event will take place in mid-September.

Alyssa  has also dedicated her time and talent to Kidz-4-Kidz, which helps raise money for the Ashley Lauren Foundation as well as organizing food drives for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.

We hope you can help Alyssa do her important work. Visit the Special Olympics of New Jersey website.
