Local Man Raises Thousands for Charity By Going in the Ocean for 462 Days Straight

On August 31, Island Heights native Doug Maday managed to dive into the Atlantic every day for exactly one year. But Doug had more to accomplish. 

He wanted to raise $10,000 for Joan Dancy & PALS Foundation. This great organization helps ALS patients and their families.

Doug reached day 400 and $8,000 in early October, but Maday was aiming for $10k.

Once word spread, friends kicked in $2,000 in record time.

Why? Followers couldn't let this brave man go through another winter diving into the water in Seaside Park with no wetsuit. Nothing stopped this man including snowstorms, dangerous temperatures and personal emergencies.
