That rumbling and blasts you might be hearing in parts of Monmouth County Tuesday and Wednesday will not be thunder, but it will be nothing to be alarmed about either.

According to nj101.5.com, the Naval Weapons Station Earle are going to be having harbor protection exercises, which means you could be hearing some booms and blasts around the area on Tuesday (May 10) and Wednesday (May 11).

Most of the exercises will take place in Sandy Hook Bay and officials say residents in several towns including Atlantic Highlands, Middletown and Leonardo, as well as those at Sandy Hook National Park may hear the noise.

Blank ammunition wlll be being used in the exercises.  A Navy press release says the drills are regularly scheduled.
