Lou's Letter To The Mets

Mets fans have waited a long time for this week. i want to let the Mets know what's on my mind before it all gets started this week.

Dear Mets,

Let's be honest. It hasn't always been easy with us. Every relationship has ups and downs, but to say I've shouldered the weight of this relationship most of the time is an understatement. Everyone has days they "check out" and I get that, but you've had entire seasons when you didn't show up.

I am loyal, though, and fortunately for you, I am the forgiving type, so when you managed to keep it interesting for the first half of the season, I was optimistic. But I couldn't help but feel like this was going to be another late summer of disappointment and pain.

Then something happened to you. You changed. You made some adjustments that I actually agreed with. And suddenly things started working. I mean really working...on all cylinders. And suddenly this was everything I hoped it would be.

I have to say, that even though I really, really, really want to win this whole thing, I want you to know that win or lose, the effort you've made, and the fun, wonderful moments you've given me this summer and fall have been amazing. You've made it a summer I'll never forget. So thanks for that.

And as for the Series, I wish you (and us) all the success in the world, but just so you know, win or lose, I plan on keeping you around.
