It's been a long time since Mets fans enjoyed rooting for their favorite team at World Series time. Now that my team is in it, I wanted to record my journey through the 2015 World Series.

I sat down in front of the TV, exhausted from Game 1's 14 inning marathon disappointment, and gathered all my hope and optimism for the game I hoped would even the series at one game a piece. It was not to be.

Game 2 would be another Royals win, and now it's time for all those cliches sports fans use when they're in a bit of trouble. "The next game is a must win", "You've got to try to win one game at a time", "I'm proud of this team no matter what happens". All true, but not really much comfort.

Here's the good news. I went to bed in the 7th inning. I did that partially because I was exhausted from the night before, part because I was trying to shake it up a little. I want to be clear that I didn't give up on my Mets, I just wanted to play a superstitious hunch. That didn't work either.

So, we'll try again tomorrow (Friday night) and see what happens (another cliche). I will say this though. I am in a much better place after two losses than I ever thought I would be. I think that's the advantage of being happily surprised you even made it this far.
