Man Climbs Seaside Heights Ride Again

As crowds gathered for Light Up New Jersey to commemorate the one year anniversary of Superstorm Sandy, one man decided to "climb up New Jersey."

Christopher Angelo of Lavallette once again climbed to the top of a Seaside Heights amusement ride, this time the Slingshot at Funtown Pier and planted an American flag late on Tuesday afternoon according to Jersey Shore Hurricane News. Police led Angelo away to the cheers of many who had gathered on the beach for Townsquare Media's Light Up New Jersey event.

Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd told the Asbury Park Press that while Angelo had proper equipment to make a safe climb, “you still can’t do that." Angelo was arrested on a disorderly conduct charge.

Angelo climbed the JetCoaster ride in January while it was submerged in the Atlantic Ocean to protest the slowness in aid to help storm victims. His mother Diane said at the time her son is a daredevil and an avid surfer and rock climber.
