One of the many long-running traditions of marriage is that the wife takes the husband's last name.

One couple switched things up a bit, but not for the reason you may think.

DJ Tanner (nee Smith) was sick of the jokes about his name, telling Guyspeed, 'It seems like the right move on my part. I can’t begin to count all the times someone has said, 'Oh I bet your Dad’s name is John, is your Mom’s name Pocahontas?' The worst part? My Dad’s name is John.'

He also adopted several step-children, and the family decided it would be easier for all involved to keep his wife's surname.

I find only one clear problem here. He was sick of hearing jokes about last name Smith, but hello? DJ Tanner?

He clearly did not think that one through.

Do you think this is weird?
