Christy DeFilippis is a marathon runner from New Jersey who was at the Boston Marathon and was one street away from the explosions when they occurred.

DeFilippis, according to nbcnewyork.com, had finished the marathon earlier, and initially thought the blasts were accidental. She was informed by police that they were not, and immediately returned to her hotel room, shaken but unharmed.

DeFilippis is from Tinton Falls and is a teacher in Manalapan. She returned from Boston on Tuesday, and says that even though she had intended to make this year's Boston Marathon her last, she is probably going to run in Boston next year.

Senseless tragedies continue to happen at an alarming rate and there always seems to be a connection close to home. Our thoughts and prayer to everyone who has been affected by this tragedy in Boston, and any of the recent tragedies that have torn at our hearts and tested our resolve.
