Manasquan Teen Celebrates His Birthday by Hosting Holiday Food Drive

It's not every day that a teen celebrates their birthday by giving back to the community. One local teen is doing just that...for the 7th year in a row!

Xander Bossone started his annual food drive on his 11th birthday.

Now almost 17 years old, Xander continues the tradition with the 7th Annual Fill-A-Truck Food Drive Birthday Bash.

It takes place on Sunday, December 11th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Acme on Taylor Ave. in Manasquan.

With assistance from Asbury Park-based charity Move For Hunger and Lowy's Moving Service, Xander hopes to fill a moving truck with food for The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties to help local families in need.

Since that first food drive in 2009, Xander's food drives have collected nearly 25,000 pounds of food, providing almost 21,000 meals for Jersey Shore residents in need.

It's an incredible act that should inspire us all.
