Witnesses told police they saw 27-year old Peter Wesolowski driving erratically at a high rate of speed just before he crashed into the tree.

Police believe it may have been due to fatigue or some kind of medical condition Wesolowski had but are still looking into the crash and when he became unconscious, whether it was upon impact or before.

Members of the police department were joined by the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department who helped get the trees off his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado and medevacked him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

He was wearing a seat-belt at the time of the crash and has been released from the hospital following treatment of his injuries.
