RED BANK – A borough man has been arrested and charged with killing a California marijuana grower during a botched robbery in November.

Gary Blank III, 34, was the last of the seven suspects to be taken into custody on the homicide charge from 2011. He's also the third suspect in the killing to have ties to the Garden State. Zachary Ryan Wuester, of Haskell, and Frederick Gaestel, 27, of Clifton, also had been charged.

Police say three were among several marijuana trimmers who plotted to steal processed marijuana from the Mendocino County commercial marijuana operation that had employed them.

During the late night robbery, police say the men assaulted the facility’s owner, Jeffrey Quinn Settler, who lived on the property. Settler died from the beating and stabbing.

Blank was arrested Saturday at his home by Asbury Park police and state troopers. He was being held without bail awaiting extradition to California.
