Max’s Famous Hot Dogs Temporarily Closed

Max’s Famous Hot Dogs in Long Branch is closed for the weekend.

Owner Robert Maybaum passed away early Thursday morning. The restaurant will re-open at 11 a.m. Monday.

A long-time resident of Little Silver, Robert “Bobby” Maybaum, 71, a longtime resident of Little Silver, passed away at Monmouth Medical Center.

Born in Plainfield, Maybaum was raised in Deal. After his own father’s passing in 1980, Bobby owned and operated Max’s for the past 33 years.

This year marks 85 years that Max’s Famous Hot Dogs has served the Jersey Shore and the community of Long Branch. Bobby was responsible for moving Max’s from the Long Branch boardwalk to its current location on Ocean Avenue.
