McDonald's plans on making healthier chicken available in many of its products starting in a matter of days.

I usually pass up the grilled chicken sandwich or salad with chicken at fast food restaurants because I can't stand the crazy amount of sodium infiltrating my body. Let's face it. Not all chicken is healthy if it is loaded with sodium.

Now McDonald's is simplifying its grilled chicken recipe.

This is the latest sign that McDonald's is rethinking its menu to keep up with changing tastes and more health-conscious customers.

The fast-food chain is removing ingredients that people might not recognize.

McDonald's expects the new "Artisan Grilled Chicken" to be in its over 14,300 U.S. stores by the end of next week, in products including sandwiches, wraps, and salads.

According to the Associated Press, McDonald's is fighting to hold onto customers amid the growing popularity of places like Chipotle that position themselves as more wholesome alternatives As ingredients become a marketing advantage, McDonald's has been trying to shake perceptions that it serves junk food packed with artificial ingredients.

A McDonald's representative says the new chicken will have 12 ingredients, down from 18. It will no longer use sodium phosphates or maltodextrin.
